SINGAPORE, Asia Pacific, September 24, 2002 -- Hewlett-Packard Company (NYSE:HWP) today reinforced its commitment to leadership in the digital projector marketplace since its merger with Compaq, with its announcement of three new members to the award-winning HP MP family of microportable projection systems including the MP4800, MP3800 and MP1200. Leveraging HP’s established track record in reliability, compatibility, and versatility, the company also launched two new digital projectors for mobile professionals – HP Digital Projectors xb31 and sb21. Each product delivers excellent performance with industry-leading brightness and weight while offering the twin key benefits of convenience and portability for customers at the office or on the move.

Mobile Excellence
Targeted at mobile users specifically, the HP Digital Projectors xb31 and sb21 are easy-to-use products that ensure professional presentations leveraging HP’s established track record in reliability, compatibility, and versatility.

The HP Digital xb31 offers the industry’s leading brightness in the three-pound class at 1,500 lumens. Tipping the scales at 2.2 pounds, the HP Digital Projector sb21 is the lightest projector in the 1,000 lumens class. Both projectors feature an unmatched 1,800:1 contrast ratio for deep blacks and rich, full colors and were developed based on Texas Instrument’s Digital Light Processing (DLP) technology.
The projectors also offer users automatic image synchronization for tacking, frequency and position adjustment. This AutoSynch feature guarantees ease of use as it automatically interprets and adjusts incoming computer graphics and video signals, ensuring that the highest quality images are displayed. Both projectors’ ease of use is enhanced by a wireless remote control that features complete projector functionality, additional user-friendly keys and a laser pointer.

Weighing only 6 pounds (2.6kg) and yet delivering more than 2000 lumens of brightness, the MP4800 is the perfect projector for making critical boardroom presentations. The HP MP4800 utilizes the Digital Light Processing (DLP) chip from Texas Instruments (TI) to deliver bright, crisp XGA-resolution (1024 X 768) images and a superior 800:1 contrast ratio.
Targeted at corporate executives, the HP MP4800 includes integrated audio, video, stereo sound and High-Definition TV support for critical multimedia boardroom presentations.
The HP MP4800 is an ultra-quiet unit that operates at less than 36 decibels. Its versatile form factor allows it to be used as a tabletop projector, set on a tripod or mounted to the boardroom ceiling. A final advantage is its Lamp-Saver mode that is able to extend bulb life by up to 50 percent, lower noise output to 34 decibels, while delivering up to 1600 lumens of brightness.

With its award-winning vertical design and weighing a mere 3.5 pounds (1.6 kg), this lightweight digital projector pumps 1300 lumens of brightness from its compact, portable body. The HP MP3800 is powered by TI’s DLP chip.
