Microsoft offers only the following upgrade paths for the Windows® 7 Upgrade Option Program from HP. Windows Vista® can only be upgraded to the same language version of Windows® 7 (e.g. if your PC with Windows Vista had the English version factory installed, then you can only upgrade to a Windows® 7 version in English.

Please note: If the Windows Vista and Windows® 7 operating system versions do not match as described in the upgrade path above, the Windows® 7 upgrade media may not install and activate properly. Please refer to the FAQ.
Your PC’s Windows® 7 product functionality and graphics performance may vary based on your system configuration. Some product features of Windows® 7, such as the ability to watch and record live TV or navigation through the use of “touch” may require advanced or additional hardware. You may need to add additional memory or a DVD drive to install the software.
Information about HP Windows® 7 compatible drivers will be available close to the public availability of Windows® 7. For HP devices, please consult HP Support and Drivers - opens simulated dialog. For non-HP devices, please consult the Microsoft Compatibility Center.
Microsoft Windows Vista® Home Basic, Windows Vista ® Starter Edition, and Windows® XP (all editions) do not qualify for upgrades to Windows® 7 under this Program.
If you meet all three eligibility requirements, then you may proceed to order your Windows® 7Upgrade Kit from HP

If your system was originally pre-installed with Windows Vista® Business or Windows Vista® Ultimate and downgraded to Windows® XP, it may still be eligible for this program. However, a clean installation of the Windows® 7 Upgrade media will be required.

HP has contracted with a third party company to fulfill the Windows® 7 Upgrade Option Program from HP. Orders will be accepted June 26, 2009 until February 15, 2010. Proof of purchase must be submitted and postmarked no later than March 1, 2010. You will receive your Windows® 7 Upgrade Kit after Windows® 7 becomes publicly available October 22, 2009.
