"Five years from now, touch screens will evolve to the point where they are found not only on phones and PCs, but on walls, tabletops and flexible displays. In just a few years we could be ordering dinner on the table where we’ll be eating, or reading the news on thin, touch-enabled, flexible, displays that can be rolled up and stowed away in our bags.
Touch has already simplified and centralised how we use technology at home. Touch screen computers, such as the HP TouchSmart PC, offer much more than the standard computing experience, and often work better in the living room than the home office. The touch screen removes the need for a keyboard and mouse. Instead, people are free to walk up to the screen to browse the internet, change the song that’s playing, or bring up photos on the screen.
Microsoft's Windows 7 operating system unlocks the potential of HP’s touch-enabled hardware and TouchSmart 3.0 software, with an interface that’s designed to make touch gestures simple and natural for the user. During its development stages, HP collaborated with Microsoft on touch technology and how it can best be utilised in current and future devices. The result has been a smooth operating system that makes browsing the internet, searching through files and managing open windows and applications a more organic process..."
