HP rp5700 Point-of-Sale System – A Complete POS Solution for Retail Environments

BERLIN, Germany, 10 June 2008 – HP today introduced the HP rp5700 Point-of-Sale (POS) System that brings HP technology from the back office onto the retail floor, completing the company’s full line of offerings for retailers in Asia Pacific. The rp5700 is an exceptionally stable, highly-reliable PC for task-oriented and demanding business environments.  With a 5-year lifecycle, one of the lengthiest in the industry, the HP rp5700 is designed to provide customers with an extended transition time between platforms.

Offering optimal flexibility, the HP rp5700’s innovative design and extensive features allow it to be used for processing customer transactions at check-out zones in retail outlets or a manager’s workstation. In addition, the rp5700 offers the reliability of Intel^®; and Microsoft Windows^® technologies and available SATA hard drives with RAID support to offer customers PC technology that easily integrates with back-office infrastructure.

• Four expansion slots with two half-height slots for PCI-E and two full-height PCI slots
• Optional dual monitor capability
• RAID support for dual SATA hard drives up to 250 gigabytes
• Support for up to 10 USB ports with two at the front and four at the back USB ports standard, with the option to add up to four powered USB ports
• Two standard serial ports with the option to add two more serial ports, and all four can be powered
• Standard 80 percent efficient power supply that is up to 15 percent more efficient, reducing overall energy usage and the amount of waste heat released into the environment

Designed for Retail Environments

The HP rp5700 POS System features a retail-hardened design, customized to withstand the rigors of the retail environment. Retailers can maximize space in constrained work areas, such as check-out zones by positioning the compact system on the cash wrap or have it mounted vertically or horizontally under the cash wrap. The rp5700 is enhanced with peripheral support, improved power and cooling capabilities. Customers have the flexibility to customise their POS solution with a broad range of HP-branded POS peripherals.
