HP Debuts New Line of Mobile Entertainment Notebook PCs for Consumers 

BERLIN, Germany, June 10, 2008 – Known for its innovative spirit and breakthrough designs, HP introduced a new line of Pavilion and Compaq Presario notebook PCs today. The new designs are driven not only by having a pulse on future fashion trends, but also through extensive research with notebook users around the globe. 

The 15.4-inch HP Pavilion dv5 notebook PC is one of seven consumer notebook PCs that brings together the best of design and entertainment by offering inspiring patterns, metalized reflective surfaces together with great software and hardware experiences to suit the personal user’s digital lifestyle. 

Other features include: 

  • Altec Lansing stereo speakers and an HDMI interface that transforms the notebook into a portable home theater audio-video system 
  • Optional features such as Blu-ray optical drive(1), TV tuners(2), remote controls, integrated webcams, digital microphone and broadband(3), ideal for social networking and communication
  • High-speed eSATA interface for external storage that provides up to six times faster than USB interfaces while using the USB/eSATA combo port

Pricing & Availability(4)

The HP Pavilion dv4 (Intel) Series Entertainment Notebook PC starts at US$1,399 and will be available later this month. The HP Pavilion dv4z (AMD) Series Entertainment Notebook PC starts at US$1,199 and are expected to be available in September. 

Both the HP Pavilion dv5 (Intel) Series Entertainment Notebook PC, starting at US$1,399, and the HP Pavilion dv5z (AMD) Series Entertainment Notebook PC, starting at US$1,199, will be available later this month. 

The HP Pavilion dv7 (Intel) Series Entertainment Notebook PC starts at US$1,599 and will be available later this month. 

The Compaq Presario CQ20 Series Notebook PC is expected to start at an estimated Asia Pacific street price of at US$999 and will be available in July 2008.

The Compaq Presario CQ45 Series Notebook PC is expected to start at an estimated Asia Pacific street price of US$1,099, and the CQ40 Series Notebook PC at an estimated Asia Pacific street price of US$999. Both will be available in August 2008.

The Compaq Presario CQ50 Series Notebook PCs start at $999 and will be available later this month.

The HP xb4 Notebook Media Docking Station is expected to start at an estimated Asia Pacific street price of US$249 and will be available later this month.

    (1)Blu-ray is a new format containing new technologies. Certain discs, digital connections, compatibility and/or performance issues may arise, and do not constitute defects in the product. Flawless playback on all systems is not guaranteed. In order for some Blu-ray titles to play, they may require a DVI or HDMI digital connection and the display may require HDCP support. This Blu-ray drive does not support writing to ultra-high speed CDRW media (16X to 32X advertised performance). HD-DVD movies cannot be played on this notebook PC.
